Tarangire National Park, only 114 km from Arusha, is famously called the “Park of
Elephants”. Its permanent water source attracts enormous herds of elephants, migratory
wildebeest and zebras, and hosts rare species like eland, kudu, oryx, and gerenuk. The park’s
iconic baobabs and diverse birdlife make it a photographer’s paradise.
Drive from Arusha to Tarangire National Park (~2–3 hours).
Arrive in time for lunch.
Afternoon game drive, spotting herds of elephants (up to 3,500), lion, leopard, cheetah,
hyena, and rare species like eland, kudu, oryx, and gerenuk.
Enjoy the scenery of wide savannahs, acacia woodlands, and towering baobab trees.
Overnight: Tarangire Sopa Lodge, Mbali Mbali Tarangire River Camp, Baobab Tented Camp,
or similar
Morning and afternoon game drives across the park’s scenic landscapes.
Observe large elephant herds (up to 600 at a time), migrating wildebeest and zebras,
buffalo, hartebeest, and other plains game.
Spot unique wildlife like tree-climbing pythons and over 550 recorded bird species.
Optional photography or relaxation at the lodge between drives.

After breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive (time permitting).
Depart Tarangire and drive back to Arusha, arriving in the afternoon.
